I came across this book of illustrated short stories which were a result of a collaboration between graphic novelist and writer Neil Gaiman and his fans as part of a Blackberry campaign.
I’ve been reading about Visual Themes and looking at how repetition of typefaces, colour choices , layout etc can ensure consistency and unify the overall look of a publication/ project. Although the illustrations are from multiple sources/ illustrators, the book designed by Sebastien Delahaye and art directed by Sonny Adorjan has been wrapped in wax paper sealed with a specially designed crest, then the stories inside were printed on translucent paper overlaying the chosen illustrations and provides a consistency to the project. These unique features to be communicate the uniqueness of the project and make the book seem really special and engaging – I’d love to get my hands on a copy but apparently they are only available to a select few!
